How we do Church

The Elizabethtown First Church of God consists of several “houses” that meet regularly for corporate worship, intentional discipleship, fellowship, and service opportunities.

While this model is indeed patterned after the “house church” or “micro-church” ministry model, we have modified it to make it our own. We have chosen to call our model “Church Houses,” or “Houses of the Elizabethtown Church of God,” borrowing the term “house” from the traditional English educational system that places people into groups called houses. '“Houses,” therefore, don’t refer to the place where people gather, but rather, to the people themselves.

Each house consists of 8-15 people and meets weekly in a house, restaurant, or other gathering space on a day that works best for that group. Each house also periodically meets for fellowship times and activities (dinners, games, etc.) as well as outreach activities (service opportunities) within the community.

All Church Houses gather monthly on the Third Sunday of each month for a Gathering of Gatherings. These gatherings include teaching, prayer, a time of sharing from each House, music, and food.
